Here’s exactly how we protect you, and what we can’t promise. Safety tools are free for everyone, always.
If you or someone else is in danger right now
- Call your local emergency number (911 in the USA and Canada, 999 in the UK, 112 in the EU, 000 in Australia).
- USA and Canada: call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Survivor.com is not an emergency service and can’t send help to you.
Contact details removed
Phone numbers, emails, addresses, social handles and links are removed from posts, comments, chat, names and bios, including many disguised forms. No filter is perfect, so please report anything that gets through.
Messages need mutual opt-in
Private messages are off by default. Both people must turn them on and agree before anyone can message. Blocking closes any conversation immediately.
Report, block, mute
Every post, comment and message has a ⋯ menu with Report, Block and Mute. Blocked people can’t see you and you can’t see them. Reports are reviewed by our team and AI moderation.
Adults only
Survivor.com is for people 18 and over. We confirm age at sign-up and act on reports of underage accounts.
Pseudonyms & privacy
Use any display name. Your journeys stay private. Member pages and private posts are never shown to search engines. Export or delete your data anytime.
AI, clearly labeled
Hope, our AI guide, always says it’s AI. It isn’t a therapist, doctor or pastor, it never claims lived experience, and it never prays on your behalf. It points you to real people.
How moderation works
Every post first passes automatic checks (contact details, crisis language, medical claims, spam) and AI moderation. Anything uncertain is held for review by our team. Posts that suggest someone may be in danger are prioritized, and the writer sees crisis resources right away. We don’t advertise round-the-clock staffing, because we won’t promise what we can’t guarantee.
What isn’t allowed
Harassment, hate, threats, sexual content, grooming, asking anyone to move off-platform, sharing contact details, selling or fundraising, impersonation, doxxing, unverified cures or advice to stop medical treatment, and coercive preaching. Appeals
If you think we made a mistake, contact support with the reference number from your notice and a person will take another look.
